Public at the licentiate seminar

The goal of the research journey

Licentiate seminar in May 2003

In May 2003 it was finally time for the licentiate seminars - I should present the result of four years (hard) work at a public seminar at the Institute of Education in Stockholm. Jan Schoultz from Linköping acted as opponent and besides the examiner Staffan Selander and the supervisor Per-Olof Wickman quite a lot of people were present.

It was almost incomprehensible that the four years long journey was finsished. The result of much trouble and hard work was this compendium about chemistry teachers' narratives, imagine that such a little book could have meant so much work!
At the seminar the opponent led a discussion where he carefully reviewed the content of the thesis. It was amazing that someone had used so much time to review the material, that was honourable! The opponent actually was rather positive, it became a friendly discussion and even if some questions were difficult I didn't feel "grilled", on the other hand it was quite fun.
The seminar brought the research journey to a close but also was the kick-off for the nest jouney. The questions that were put and the weaknesses that were pointed at is the base for the dissertation thesis that I start to write in the summer 2003. Just after midsummer I found out that I had received a generous grant from Anna Ahlströms and Ellen Tersérus fund, which means that I have the opportunity to during the two nearest years continue my research to a doctor's degree.
